Chapter 15

In this chapter we are introduced to Christianity and the reasons why chrisitianty broke off from the catholic church and started to split into different forms of christianity known as the protestant reformation. Catholicism was very popular in Western Europe for many years but through out those years we begin to see corruption within that. We are also introduced to the Eastern Orthodox Church which was the church in Eastern Europe and Russia. The protestant reformation starts in 1517 because of this corruption and it is started by Martin Luther who writes the 95 theses and pins them to the church wall. This was the first time that the church has ever been challenged by anyone and people began to listen because Martin Luther called out the church for there wrong doings and wanted them to change. Chapter 16

In this chapter we get into the the talk about Eurocentrism with stayer said is what most history is evolved around. Eurocentrism is a big emphasis on the Western European society and ideas. Its basically comparing “The West” to every other place like the east which includes eastern china and eastern Korea and the west is comparing themselves as basically being better or having a more important history. Strayer also talks about the Atlantic revolutions which includes the American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Haitan revolution, and the Latin American revolution. All of these revolution are very similar because they represent enlightenment ideas and the ideas of the scientific revolution, they also all had the similar task of challenging and overthrowing their government.
